Wood Mackenzie's 150 minute online training course covering the refining industry will provide delegates with critical information from a commercial viewpoint, including:
- What connects crude oil production to the supply of transport fuels and petrochemicals
- The crude oil qualities that are critical to the refining process and setting crude price differentials.
- A view of refinery competitive position, site earnings and investment opportunities
- The role of feedstock, refinery configuration, and location as drivers of refinery cash earnings to assess investment and portfolio opportunities.

Avanpal Singh Sehmi

Avanpal is a research analyst in Wood Mackenzie’s oils and chemicals research team, focusing on refinery evaluation modelling and long-term outlooks for Europe and FSU. Prior to joining Wood Mackenzie in 2023, Avanpal worked for KBC Technologies as a process engineering graduate – primarily building process simulation models of refinery units to perform technical and economic evaluation of decarbonisation opportunities. Avanpal holds a first-class Masters degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Nottingham

Alan is VP Refining, Chemicals and Oil Markets, responsible for formulating our research outlook and integrated cross-sector perspectives on the global downstream sector. Alan joined the business as part of our Downstream Consulting Team in 2005 and later went on to lead the division. He has managed consulting assignments all over the world, focusing on major transactions (projects and M&A) and their alignment with key success factors for industry players and third parties. He then transitioned into research upon his return to London from Houston in 2011. Prior to joining Wood Mackenzie, Alan spent 10 years as an industry consultant after working for ExxonMobil in a variety of project planning and technical process design roles. Priti Choudhary
Research Analyst, Refining and Oil Products
Wood Mackenzie
Priti is a Research Analyst in the Refining and Oil Products team. She joined in 2022 to initially focus on Middle East short-term and long-term markets. She now also works in short-term refining markets for Asia markets. Prior to joining Wood Mackenzie, Priti had five years of experience in industry and customised research in Oil and gas sector in CRISIL Limited, An S&P Global company. Priti has a Post Graduate certification in Finance from NMIMS, Mumbai and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi. She is also a CFA Level 3 candidate.
